This is the 2nd month of swapping canvases.  View the slide show to see how we are progressing.

 

Sheila created this lovely dress form using pink materials to represent Cancer awareness month.

 

Glenna did some more work on her beautiful blue canvas.  She added modeling paste to the wings.  She also used paraffin wax to give her painting an interesting encaustic look. 

How clever is that!!

Terri created this colorful painting on Lutradur.  Here is an interesting tutorial on Lutradur.  Here's a video.

Terri also made this adorable teddy bear.  He is felted and so soft.  We all found him to be quite intriguing.

       

Many of our members love to scrapbook.  Here are some wonderful layouts created by Nanci and Glenna

 

This fun scrapbook, made by Lola, is just waiting for some great pictures to grace it's pages.

 

Kristal is an amazing artist and this beautiful page proves it.  It's a scrapbook paper that already had the pattern.  Kristal added the gorgeous color and shading by using colored pencils and Gum Arabic.

 

 

Look at this adorable pumpkin headed character.  I think Lola used everything but the kitchen sink to make this fun Halloween decoration.  So crafty and so incredibly imaginative!

 

Kat put this Tim Holtz Ideology Configurations box together after taking a class from Carol Murphy.  It's oh so scary!  You can't look away.  You might miss something.

We worked on our little encaustic, fairy wall hangings.  Here's a few examples our spontaneous artwork.

 

This month's kit consisted of a doll and some fun items to help us create an apron for her.  We also received a lace pack by Kaisercraft, several pieces of mica, a few button packs by Blumenthal Lansing Co., and a DecoFabric marker by Marvy Uchida.   It's a fun collection of inspiring pieces to stimulate the imagination.

• Tags are due and should include a picture of you and a little known detail about you. (10 tags) Do 11 tags if you want to donate one to Charity Wings.
• Projects you've been working on to share

• November is the 3rd month of a 4-month cycle and the meeting is Thursday, November 3rd, at Gee Gee's Stamp 'n' Stuff.

• Crop on October 23, 11:00-5:30 at Cool Scrapbook Stuff.  Potluck!

3.  White Elephant Gift Exchange.  Christmas is in 2 months. You might want to start working on your Gift.  It must be something wonderful, that you created, and would want to keep for yourself.  Put your best foot forward.  We will exchange gifts at our December meeting.

Gee Gee's Book Club Welcome's Lisa Fulmer

 

Lisa says, "One very important thing to remember about needle felting is to avoid poking your finger with the needle because it will seriously hurt."

What a fun night that started with a special guest appearance from Lisa Fulmer from C&T Publishing.  Lisa is a well known artist in the crafting industry and would love for you to FB friend her at Lisa Liza Lou Designs.  Lisa came to our meeting armed with her friend, and fellow crafter, Andrea Currie, and a demonstration of Needle Felting techniques and Needle Felting with Lutradur.  We had lots of giggles.

If that wasn't enough excitement for one night, we also had the pleasure of skyping with the one and only Jen Osborn, author of our current book, Mixed and Stitched.  Each of us had an opportunity to spend a few minutes talking with this wonderful lady as she hung out in her home in Michigan.

		Dress Form Swap VIEW SLIDE SHOW DOWNLOAD ALL

Dress Forms Swap.  Check out all the beautifully embellished dress forms we swapped.  The rules were simply to use the Tim Holtz Dress Form Die Cut and embellish.  Everyone went home with a stack of these to use on future projects. It's amazing what 12 different minds will come up with.

 

 

Canvas Swap VIEW SLIDE SHOW DOWNLOAD ALL

This is our newest swap.  It's a canvas swap.  The only rule was to start your canvas.  As you can see everyone had different ideas on what it means to start a canvas.  We then passed our canvas to another book club member who will add embellishments, paint, fabric, or whatever they want to add.  Then next month each canvas will be passed to the next person for further embellishing.  In the end we will get back the canvas we started with.  The fun is that it will include a compilation of artistic ideas from each one of our members. 

 

Lola created this beautiful Life is Love banner from the letters that we all created in our recent letter swap.  She added dangles to each letter and then attached the letters to a yardstick. 

 

It clear that Glenna spent some happy time on this lovely layout of she and her Grandma.  It's amazing what happens with our art when we have such a beautiful inspiration.

These adorable little collages are examples of what we worked on for our make and take.  They are miniature pieces of art collaged or sewed on fabric. 

This one also included bees wax.
