Jenny Doh was our very special guest.  Jenny, who you may remember as the Editor In Chief and Director of Publication for Stampington & Company magazines, is now the owner of  She writes books and has her hands in many projects all the time.
Jenny shared some of the collaborations, and behind the scenes, of putting together an incredible book like Creative Pilgrimage.  That might explain why everyone is holding the book.  It’s the book we selected for this quarter of book club…and, we all wanted her autograph.
Jenny also gave us some incredible information about her chosen charity, Project Home Ec Fundraiser, inspired by Sheena Matheiken's The Uniform Project (, which is raising money for  The is such a unique and Brave endeavor.  Jenny and others are wearing the same dress for a year.  Ok, doesn’t that make you want to go to her website to read more!  I checked the website today and they are at $675.  Her goal is to raise $5,000 this year.  Go here and check out this wonderful charity and don’t miss all the fabulous ways Jenny wears her dress. Go here to donate and learn more about

Cynthia sharing something wildly funny with Anne and Jenny.

Elena and Jenny

We were given a front row seat to Jenny’s beautiful crochet necklace. Some of us learned how to crochet for the first time. Others actually learned how to do the flower. Her ideas on what one can do with this necklace are innumerable. Thankfully she shared her YouTube video with us, which will make life much easier for this beginner.

Elena loves to prepare our kits.  Every month we receive a kit of goodies.  Some of the ladies are steadfast about creating something beautiful with the kit to share at the next meeting.  Others add the kit into their stash and use it when the need arises.  This month’s kit included a “lovely” 8”x10” canvas board, Perfect Pearls and a brush by Ranger, and several other pretty adornments.  I can’t wait to see what these wonderfully talented ladies do with their kit this month.  You may be interested in this step by step technique for using Perfect Pearls.

Flor Larios painted this pretty girl and donated it to Charity Wings for Elena’s booth at CHA.

Jen Cushman created this fascinating piece of art and donated it to Charity Wings.

Laura Bray created this painted fabric winged heart.  Also a lovely donation!

IMG_0298This was made by Peggie.  She used a kit from a previous month to put together this adorable valentine centerpiece.

This awesome collage was something fun that Gaye brought in to share.
This is a page from our journal swap.  Gaye had Denise’s journal and this was the beautiful page she made for her.
Simple and clean…beautiful collage by Gaye.

And, here is a “What I Love About You” mini album for her cutie patootie son.

Kat’s results from taking Traci Bautista’s class, Doodles Unleashed, which is a collaboration with a free online series of workshops by Strathmore

First create a page of doodles. Then cut the page up into pieces. This example shows the page cut to ATC size. They could be cut for cards or as ephemera for other art projects
Create a doodle page and then add a Glam Girl.  Check out Traci’s blog and new book, Doodles Unleased.

OMGoodness, this is a fabulous custom Collage by Alma for her Mom and Dad’s 50th Wedding Anniversary.  Awesome keepsake!

Tricia made this sparkly banner for a party at her home.  It says “Be Mine”.  The details are so creative and wonderful.

Here are more of the fabulous details that Tricia put into her party.IMG_0320IMG_0324
We love the pin wheels…more party embellishments by Tricia.

It’s a “STUFF” box beautifully made by Kathren.  Who doesn’t need one of these!  Why didn’t I think of that!

This sweet pretty little wall hanging was designed and created by Kathren.  The transfer picture is of her grandmother.

Awwe!  Don’t you just love owls!  Check out Cynthia’s cutie owl.  Lots of lovely detail.

Gee Gee’s Book Club With Love

What a fun way to start our evening.  Each of us made one Valentine Card and then we did a swap so that everyone received a card made by one of her friends.

Click on the slide show. They are all so sweet and fun.

Ally gave each of us a Valentine’s day present that included pretty little odds and ends in red and pink.  Lots of fun ephemera, including hearts, fabric, twine, and letters.  We can make more cards, or a Valentine canvas.

Miss Vicky Breslin and Sessie Flanagan brought all the elements to make a cute crown for our Make and Take.  Pam made this Bad Hair Day Crown.  Pam said, “I’ll wear it in the mornings when I drop my daughter off at school.”

Karen made this fun Spring crown.  Thanks Vicky and Sessie

Oh my Gosh!  We are still working on our canvases and they are getting better and better each month.  Not one of us is ready to stop.  If you look at last month’s canvases, and then look at these, you’ll see one or two changes that really add to the art.

Cynthia is becoming an expert on making her Julie Nutting inspired canvases.  This one is finished with encaustic wax which gives it a unique old world look.

Here are two more of Cynthia’s beautiful pictures with a “love” theme.

Last month our kit included vintage record albums.  Cam turned one of her albums into a darling, working clock.  Cam said, “It’s simple, but that’s exactly what I wanted.”  We all thought it was quite clever.

Ally went to CHA and had the opportunity to talk to Ruth Rae, artist and author of Layered, Tattered and Stitched.  Ally said she had already been working on this wall hanging based on an article in the book.  She was so excited to talk to Ruth about how to finish it roots and all.

IMG_0236 Glenna also went to CHA and came home with some beautiful treasures and learned techniques. This is UTEE made into a gorgeous pendant.

Glenna also learned how to emboss this Vintaj brass element, added some patina, and sanded the top to bring out the images.  Beautiful as a pendant or a charm!

Cute as a Bug!  Absolutely adorable children!

The adorable layout is by Lola.

This is a beautiful piece of music themed art made by Deborah.

Deborah also made these pretty accessories with Shrinky Dink Plastic.  Color choices are spectacular!

Hmmm!  I see an awesome Make and Take.

Pam has been busy with her new sewing machine.

She made this pretty cup cozy.

Kat has been taking Traci Bautista’s free online class sponsored by Strathmore.  This is her idea of doodling.

Here is Kat’s Glam Girl also from Traci’s class.  The classes are still up and will be for awhile.  Go to Strathmore for more info.

This Kat’s Julie Nutting inspired encaustic (8x10!!) canvas.

These are interesting!  Can you guess what this is?  Here’s a hint:  Elena and Karen made them!  Go to the end of the post for the answer.

Nanci spent a lot of hours on her vintage record album.  Last month, she went home with a complete record book, which she made into this exquisite album of love for her husband for Valentine’s Day.

It is based on their life together with a back-ground theme of music.

What a fabulous treasure that I’m sure they will cherish forever!

Here are some more doodling pieces from Traci Bautista’s class.  Beautiful colors.  As you can see, these art pieces can be cut up for cards, ATC’s and ephemera for other projects.

Here is this month’s kit.  It includes Glimmer Mist by Tattered Angels, stickers by PSX, Sticker Accents and Crafting Tissue by Fiskars, 6x6 Template by Crafters Workshop, and a Seal Stamp by 7gypsies.  Let’s see what you make with all of this fun loot!

Answer:  Felted soap.  Pretty cool huh!
