Ohhhh! Book Club was so fun this month. We were delighted with the company of two lovely ladies from Stampington & Co., which is the company that publishes our current book/magazine, Art Journaling, for this cycle of Book Club.
Christen Olivarez, Editor-In-Chief and Director Of Publishing, and Jana Holstein, Associate Editor, visited with us and shared some of the behind the scenes happenings at Stampington. They explained to us how to find out what types of art they are looking for, and how to submit. Jana brought some beautiful artwork, to show and tell, which will be in the next issue of Somerset Studio. (Hence, no pics!) Christen brought several packages of magazines bundled with ephemera for us to raffle.
It was wonderful to see these ladies and we all appreciate their interest and support in our Book Club.
Going around the table from the left: Lola, Nanci, Jacque, Kam, Pam, Elena, Gayle, Sherry (hiding), Deb, Glenna, Cynthia and Kristal
Ok, here’s the proof! Are we having fun or what! We are a very social group, and maybe a little messy! Ha ha! Look at that table! See that clean part right in front? That’s where I was sitting! Hee Hee!
Yes, we are still passing the canvases. View the slide show. They are coming along so nicely. It’s always fun to see what other ladies have done to embellish the canvases.
Elena tried her hand at a Julie Nutting inspired paper doll. Wow! Did she rise to the occasion. Her doll is adorable and flirty and fun…just like her!
Check out the boots!
Cynthia made this colorful, pretty flower collage.
And check out this old record album bowl that Cynthia made. What will that girl come up with next!
Pam took Julie Nutting’s paper doll banner class. They look like sweet little cheer leaders. Very cute!
Jacque, who says she knows nothing about art, created this fabulous painting. Everyone told her it was fabulous and how can you argue with everyone!
It’s hang on your wall beautiful Miss Jacque!
Kam made this great collage using paints and burlap.
Awwe! Aren’t they a cute couple!
Awesome layouts by Glenna! Very inspiring!
Gayle, owner of Gee Gee’s, took a class with Marah Johnson. She made this crazy gorgeous fish with Twinkling H2O’s by Luminarte.
She drew and colored this intriguing face right on a piece of book paper.
Gayle also created these pretty doodle pages. The color is extraordinary!
Speaking of doodles, this page was created by Kat. She learned how to doodle in a Traci Bautista online work shop with Strathmore.
Jacque and Kam are having fun playing with this month’s Make and Take. Here are some samples. It’s a bird in a birdcage. We thought these would be cute as a banner…hanging lantern style.
