Gee Gee’s Book Club With Love

What a fun way to start our evening.  Each of us made one Valentine Card and then we did a swap so that everyone received a card made by one of her friends.

Click on the slide show. They are all so sweet and fun.

Ally gave each of us a Valentine’s day present that included pretty little odds and ends in red and pink.  Lots of fun ephemera, including hearts, fabric, twine, and letters.  We can make more cards, or a Valentine canvas.

Miss Vicky Breslin and Sessie Flanagan brought all the elements to make a cute crown for our Make and Take.  Pam made this Bad Hair Day Crown.  Pam said, “I’ll wear it in the mornings when I drop my daughter off at school.”

Karen made this fun Spring crown.  Thanks Vicky and Sessie

Oh my Gosh!  We are still working on our canvases and they are getting better and better each month.  Not one of us is ready to stop.  If you look at last month’s canvases, and then look at these, you’ll see one or two changes that really add to the art.

Cynthia is becoming an expert on making her Julie Nutting inspired canvases.  This one is finished with encaustic wax which gives it a unique old world look.

Here are two more of Cynthia’s beautiful pictures with a “love” theme.

Last month our kit included vintage record albums.  Cam turned one of her albums into a darling, working clock.  Cam said, “It’s simple, but that’s exactly what I wanted.”  We all thought it was quite clever.

Ally went to CHA and had the opportunity to talk to Ruth Rae, artist and author of Layered, Tattered and Stitched.  Ally said she had already been working on this wall hanging based on an article in the book.  She was so excited to talk to Ruth about how to finish it roots and all.

IMG_0236 Glenna also went to CHA and came home with some beautiful treasures and learned techniques. This is UTEE made into a gorgeous pendant.

Glenna also learned how to emboss this Vintaj brass element, added some patina, and sanded the top to bring out the images.  Beautiful as a pendant or a charm!

The adorable layout is by Lola.

This is a beautiful piece of music themed art made by Deborah.

Deborah also made these pretty accessories with Shrinky Dink Plastic.  Color choices are spectacular!

Hmmm!  I see an awesome Make and Take.

Pam has been busy with her new sewing machine.

She made this pretty cup cozy.

Kat has been taking Traci Bautista’s free online class sponsored by Strathmore.  This is her idea of doodling.

Here is Kat’s Glam Girl also from Traci’s class.  The classes are still up and will be for awhile.  Go to Strathmore for more info.

These are interesting!  Can you guess what this is?  Here’s a hint:  Elena and Karen made them!  Go to the end of the post for the answer.

Nanci spent a lot of hours on her vintage record album.  Last month, she went home with a complete record book, which she made into this exquisite album of love for her husband for Valentine’s Day.

IMG_0254

It is based on their life together with a back-ground theme of music.

What a fabulous treasure that I’m sure they will cherish forever!

Here are some more doodling pieces from Traci Bautista’s class.  Beautiful colors.  As you can see, these art pieces can be cut up for cards, ATC’s and ephemera for other projects.
